Colon Cleanse Diet - Foods To Help Colon Cleansing

The colon of the large intestine might just be the most misunderstood part of the human body while, at the same time, being one of the most critical parts of it. Eating a lot of unhealthy foods can affect the colon negatively and you may not know it yourself but it might be time for you to opt for a colon cleanse diet.

There are many causes for colon problems and you should choose your colon cleanse diet with care. To highlight what an important part the colon plays in our health, doctors have coined the scarily true phrase "death starts in the colon" to remind many people and almost 50% of the Americans suffering from digestive problems and bowel disorders about the serious consequences of neglecting your colon.

The colon is the largest division of the large intestine and is about 3 inches wide and almost 6ft long. Once food has been digested in the small intestine, the remainder comes along to the large intestine and the colon helps in absorbing water and the last traces of nutrients while facilitating waste formation and its movement out of the body.

The colon can maintain itself so long as the person's dietary intake contains enough water, fiber, fruits and vegetables. When you consume more food which is processed, has high quantities of fat and doesn't have sufficient water and fiber, traces of these foods can adhere to the walls of the colon. As such waste accumulates and hardens, it will reduce the width of the colon, making it that much more difficult to get waste matter to move along, resulting in constipation. This also results in a less area of the colon being available for nutrient absorption, and as a result the chances of toxins from the built up waste entering your bloodstream are increased.

This sort of an unhygienic deposition in the colon can lead to bacterial, yeast or parasitic infections of the colon which will give rise to more health problems. Cleaning out waste matter from your colon is therefore, one of the most important facets of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Many people around the world, realizing this, have taken to colon cleansing to remove accumulated waste matter from the walls of the intestines. You could adopt a variety of therapies to effect this. There are home remedy options as well as clinical procedures or you could make use of scientifically recommended allopathic or natural tablets or capsules. But your diet while undergoing such treatment can play a crucial role in the effectiveness of your colon cleansing program.

Colon Cleanse Diet tips:

Here are some diet tips for you when going through colon treatment:

Eat foods with a lot of fiber. Also fruits, vegetables and nuts to supplement your energy. Or you could go for a solids-free juice-only diet.

Stay away from junk food, processed, fatty, oily or fried foods. Red meat is also a strict no-no. Such items can sabotage your entire cleansing routine.

No dehydrating liquids like alcohol, coffee, or aerated soft drinks. Water or lemonade would be your best alternatives as water, being a universal solvent, will help in colon cleansing.

Body Cleansing Part 1 - What It Is And How To Do It

When people think of body cleansing many immediately think of the colon cleansing craze that kept people in the bathroom all day. There are various body cleansing programs out there, but very few are worth your time and money. After reading this you should be prepared to make an informed choice as to the best tools to use to cleanse your body.

Cleansing is being talked about all over the news and in magazines. Since we have many impurities in our air, water and food, many people are beginning to think about what effect this has on our bodies. If you do any research on the internet you can see that they are finding traces of rocket fuel in many foods like salad and as well as in, of all things, umbilical cord blood. You are probably also familiar with the drug Prozac. This anti depressant has been found in high concentrations in our water supply. Almost all the food grown in the United States is sprayed with some kind of chemical which not only gets into our food but also leaches into the water systems. Did you know that in New Zealand they do not spray any of their crops with pesticides? New Zealand is considered the cleanest eco system in the world.

For some of the reasons listed above and others, I decided to do a cleanse. The body cleanse I used was a 9 day program. I must admit that I was interested in it initially just for the weight loss aspect (which is a good side effect of cleansing). After trying for 10 years to lose excess weight I was able to lose 11 pounds and almost 14". This really got my attention. Why did cleansing impurities from my body cause me to lose weight that had not come off with anything else I had tried for 10 years?

Why did I have success? The basic premise is this - when impurities enter into our bodies our system tries to do something with them. The body surrounds the impurities with fat cells to protect itself and the organs. No amount of dieting or exercise is going to get rid of these fat cells because they are doing their job of surrounding the impurities. You need to get rid of the impurities for the fat cells to leave. With a proper body cleanse you flood the body with nutrients so that it can release the impurities and fat cells.

Today's soils are depleted and our bodies are not getting the nutrients they used to. There was even a Congressional study done 50 years ago that studied the soil nutrient content. Imagine what a study would reveal today if they studied the nutrients in our soil.

A good body cleansing program has a good balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats. Many cleansing programs are just a juice or fruit fast that does not flood your body with the proper nutrients needed to cleanse the impurities. If you don't get a proper balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats, then you are not only depleting your body but also probably struggling with blood sugar issues.

You can expect a good cleansing program to replace some meals. So the main cost of the cleanse is just replacing what you are already spending on food. You can't really put a price tag on your health, can you? More details in Part 2.
